Garbage (of all descriptions)

Sidewalk and park “garbage cans” are actually green or clear plastic bags hooked on a metal rim. In the ‘90s Paris suffered a rash of bombings—camp-stove canisters were hidden in metal garbage cans that exploded into bits of metal schrapnel.
Local authorities found this sensible solution. Local workers, in bright green, change the bags often.
The same workers drive around in bright green trucks, or a kind of drive-on vacuum cleaner, cleaning up the streets—and they do a jolly good job. For a huge city, Paris is generally pretty clean. They even seem to have the problem of “doggie doo” mostly under control—we’ve seen far less of this nasty issue this time round in Paris. Thank Goodness! On previous visits, walking was sometimes a problem if you weren’t watching where you put your feet!

There seem to be many more signs now, aimed at dog owners. I wonder if dog owners have become more helpful in this regard?
